My name is Julia, a longtime member of Sierra Madre Civic Club’s Beautification Committee.  I was there when Civic Club planted ice plant along the boulevard in 1958, hung garland from merchants’ awnings in 1959, and planted 50 trees in the park in 1969. I have weeded at the flower beds at Memorial Park and at the welcoming monument at Michillinda.

The Beautification Committee’s job now is to keep the rotunda at City Hall looking SPIFFY!   At Christmas time you can see the Committee planting poinsettias and decorating the Christmas tree at the entry way to City Hall. We always make sure the rotunda looks at its best for the Wistaria Festival. For the 4th of July, we place flags and pinwheels, and plant red, white and blue flowers.   Last year we paid for a major trimming of the wistaria vine which covers the rotunda.

It is Sierra Madre Civic Club‘s honor and privilege to keep our City Hall rotunda looking special. Please come stop and meet me.

This scarecrow can be found at the Sierra Madre City Hall Rotunda  232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024
