All classes are 8 weeks and begin the week of April 6 unless stated otherwise.
No classes will be held May 25.

We offer classes in Drawing and Painting and Ceramics and Sculpture.

Drawing and Painting

225T    DRAWING & PAINTING (ages 6-9)……………………………………….. Cathy Manzo

Tuesdays 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

This class has been designed to enhance and arouse the creativity within each child through the use of a variety of stimulating materials and specially planned projects while nurturing the natural development of children’s drawing and painting through exploration of color, shape, line, and composition from the child’s view.

Fee: $106.00 members — $121.00 non-members

Saturdays 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
No class will be held on 5/23

Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of drawing and painting with emphasis placed on nurturing each student’s natural development of creative expression.  During each class, line, shape, color, and composition will be explored through a variety of art materials and experimentation.

Ceramics and Sculpture

Mondays, 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm
No class will be held on 5/25

This mid-day Monday class is being offered to fit into the schedules of Sierra Madre Elementary School students and home school children. In this clay class students will learn hand-building techniques including pinch, coil and slab in order to create a variety of sculptural forms. All pieces will be glazed and fired.

228T    WHEEL-THROWING (ages 9+)……………………………………… Debbie Schweiner

Tuesdays 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Beginning students will learn to throw on the potter’s wheel while advanced students improve their wheel-throwing techniques. Glazing and decoration will be included as will some hand-building techniques.

229W    TEEN WHEEL-THROWING (ages 12+)………………………….. Debbie Schweiner

Wednesdays 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

This class for teens will encompass all aspects of wheel-throwing. Beginning students will learn to throw on the potter’s wheel while advanced students improve their wheel-throwing techniques. Glazing and decoration will be included.

230Th    THE MUD SHOP (ages 5-8)………………………………………………… Jeanne Lavieri

Thursdays 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm

Hand-building techniques including pinch, coil, and slab will be incorporated into a variety of sculptural forms. Seasonal projects will be presented. Students are welcome to explore their own ideas and will receive individual help in area of interest. All pieces will be glazed and fired.

Sundays 2:00 pm to 3:15 pm

Pinch, coil, and slab are hand-building techniques that will be taught in this class. Kids will have fun making planters, pots, animals, and other sculptural forms. All pieces will be glazed and fired.
