Hi! My name is Robbie and I grew up in Sierra Madre! One of my favorite things to do was to hike the trails above our great town. One day as I was hiking the Mt. Wilson Trail to First Water, I rounded a bend and saw the biggest bear I’d ever seen! Boy, was I shaking in my boots! I wasn’t quite sure what to do! Now, I’m sure you know that we have lots of bears in Sierra Madre but, dang if this one didn’t talk! He stood up on his hind legs to his full height and said, “Hi Robbie! My name is Smokey! And please remember that ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FOREST FIRES!” Then, he turned back around the bend and disappeared. Well, from that day on, all I’ve ever wanted to do was to be a fireman. So, as soon as I was old enough, I went to fireman school and now I get to protect our beautiful mountains and the wonderful people of our great town!!! I hope to see some future fire fighters during Trick or Treat on Halloween!!
