Althea

The Sierra Madre Civic Club would like to introduce you to Althea...one of the many women suffragists that fought for the right to vote.

Womens Suffrage: The Fight for the Right to Vote
From 1848 to 1920, Women Fought for the Right to Vote!"
For 72 Years, brave women like Althea stood up, spoke out, and marched for the right to vote. They faced ridicule, opposition, and even arrest, but they never gave up.

In 1920, the 19th Amendment granted women in the United States the constitutional right to vote. These courageous suffragists helped change history as well as open the door for women to go out and start organizations like the Sierra Madre Civic Club (Est. 1944). Proving that when women stand together, they can change the world!
