Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre offers classes for adults and children & teens in a variety of medium: drawing and painting, ceramics, puppetry, watercolor, oil, jewelry, enameling and more.  Our children’s classes typically run for 8 weeks and adult classes for 10 weeks with new sessions starting four times a year.  We also offer a variety of workshops throughout the year.  Classes are designed to foster creative self-expression in a friendly and welcoming environment.  We have highly qualified instructors who are able to teach students of all different levels and abilities, and we keep our class sizes small to allow for individual attention.  So whether you’re a seasoned pro looking to fine tune your skills or a budding artist, looking to dip your pen in the ink for the first time, you’ll fit right in here at Creative Arts Group!

PHILOSOPHY OF CHILDREN’S DRAWING AND PAINTING CLASSES
The teaching philosophy of “Nurturing the Natural Development of Young Children’s Drawing” has been the basis of Creative Arts Group’s drawing and painting classes for young children since its inception in 1960.  It is based on drawing the work out of a child rather than imposing an adult’s ideas onto the child.  It is a teaching method that:

  1. Lets a child’s drawing develop slowly in his or her own way.
  2. Encourages the child to keep drawing, because he/she understands what he/she has drawn.
  3. Gives the child confidence to grow in his/her drawing.
  4. Gives the child confidence that he/she does not need to have someone telling or showing him/her how to draw.

There are many ways of teaching children.  Letting a child’s drawing develop naturally is the method that the Board of Directors has embraced for Creative Arts Group.
