Elizabeth Tucker

Drawing and Oil

Originally from upstate New York, Elizabeth moved to Southern California in her early 20’s. While she had always worked with her hands in the needle arts, it was her husband who encouraged her to begin drawing and painting when he gave Elizabeth an easel as a gift. Seeking teachers who would teach in the classical tradition, Elizabeth studied at the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA), Art Center College of Design and privately with artist and teacher Ryan Wurmser. Elizabeth received her Masters of Studio Art from the Florence Academy of Art, Florence, Italy. Additionally, she is a certified instructor in the Michael Wilcox School of Colour. Elizabeth has taught workshops here and on the east coast. She also has private students that she works with on a regular basis in her studio. Elizabeth has a blog where she writes about the craft of art and color theory called “Artistic License”. Before teaching at CAG, she taught for over 6 years in a well-known children’s art program. Currently Elizabeth teaches “Color Mixing: Teaching Your Colors to Play Well With Others” through workshops and on-line, workshops in “Limited Palettes: Stretching the Boundaries”, composition and design, as well as the fundamentals of drawing and oil painting. She is a juried member of both Pasadena Society of Artists and Women Painters West where she is president emeritus and former president of Angeles Crest Art Guild.
